Division One

As the temperature rose in June, the competition heated up. The Portsmouth Dodgers opened June with a 15-13 win over the visiting Chichester Falcons; home pitcher Raj Seedeehul putting in an MVP performance to continue the undefeated start to the season. Over in Southampton, the Sluggers took the victory over the Spitfires to earn their first win of the year 30-7.

The following week saw the Solent Oddballs also continue their undefeated start to the season with a Sunday double-header. A 28-19 win over the Southampton Spitfires was was followed with a 27-17 win over the Dodgers, inflicting their first defeat in the process despite outfielder Steve Beynan's heroics.

The Dodgers fell to 4-2 on the season after a tough 21-24 loss to the Itchen Knicks with the Chichester Falcons continuing to struggle with an 8-23 reverse against their nearest rivals the Solent Sluggers.

The Portsmouth Dodgers avenged their loss to the Oddballs weeks prior with a 16-11 victory at Tangier field to move back to the top of the standings. The Knicks kept up their end of the bargain, keeping pace with the title contenders with an 18-11 win over the Falcons.

Remarkably, the reigning champions Chichester Falcons fell to 1-5 with a 13-15 loss to the Spitfires who have first baseman Charlotte Brown to thank for some great play.

The month ended with the Knicks overturning their opening day defeat against the Solent Oddballs with a 29-13 victory. This leaves the Dodgers, Knicks AND Oddballs each on 14 points at the top of Division One. Only 10 runs separates all three sides heading into the final games of the season. All to play for.

Division Two

Some high scoring games this month started with the Hurricanes hosting the Redbridge Raiders at Mountbatten School in Romsey. The Raiders came away victorious 36-28 with some great play from both home first baseman Sarah Harder-Collins and visiting shortstop Bryan Barry.

The Vikings took two victories as both the Hurricanes (26-9) and Portsmouth Pirates (28-13) came away from Hunts Pond Road empty handed. The Southsea Sharks finished off the month with a 27-20 win over the Hurricanes to put them back to top of the standings at an undefeated 3-0. The Hurricanes are still looking for their elusive first win of the year.
